Ecoleader: Pomerleau

Welcome, little one
– december 2018 –

A unique and sustainable product !

Pomerleau was looking for a unique gift to give to their employees’ newborns. After several researches, we designed a unique baby nest that comfort the baby throughout childhood. First as a sleeping bag, he will then become his favorite blanket.

The positive impacts of our baby nest

Economic spinoffs – One of our greatest commitments and values here at Kotmo is to design and create products locally. All our factory owners are located in Quebec. The fabric is purchased from a Montreal family business. The labels are printed in Montreal. After, the fabrics are cut and sewn in the Eastern Townships by a family business. The baby nests are then assembled in our office in Montreal. This means 4 local businesses were involved in the production process for this unique baby nest.

Environmental impacts – As we mentioned, the manufacturers are located in Montreal and the production is local. Therefore, the products only traveled in the province, meaning less than 63 miles. This means their greenhouse gas impacts were limited throughout the production process — that’s a win for the company, and the environment!

Social benefits – By handing out a locally made product, Pomerleau is putting the spotlight on local products and showing off the creativity of Canadian designers. The company is therefore positioning itself to promote local talent.

Pomerleau – A role model for our Ecoleaders

Pomerleau can see the impact it makes by choosing a local supplier: it encourages local creativity, minimizes environmental impacts and supports jobs in the country. This strategy is in line with its mission and overall vision.
