An exclusive wood product
MP Repro and Kollectif were looking for a wooden base to put their annual calendar. For their event on December 7, 2016, the team wanted to create a special edition of a beech wood base. This essence has a special connotation for MP that goes back to Italy. They also chose this wood because it is easily found in Quebec.
The positive impacts of locally-made product
Economic spinoffs – One of our most important commitments and values is to design local products. For this project, we worked with the designers Aubry / Levesque. The wooden beech is certified and comes from Quebec. It is purchased from a local manufacturer. The cutting, production and engraving are done internally in our studio in Montreal. That means 3 local businesses were involved in the creation process for this unique product.
Environmental impacts – Like we said, the manufacturers are located in Montreal and the production is local. Therefore, the products traveled only on the island of Montreal which is less than 20 miles. So not much greenhouse gas was produced overall — that’s a win for the event!
Social benefits – By handing out a locally made gift, MP Repro and Kollectif are continuing their commitment to support local designers and raise awareness to their audience by recognizing local talent.
MP Repro and Kollectif – A role model for our Ecoleaders
MP Repro and Kollectif can see the impact it makes by choosing a local supplier: it encourages local creativity, minimizes environmental impacts and supports jobs in the country. This strategy is in line with its mission and overall vision.
