Ecoleader: Desjardins

Gift Box for the Family – March 2018 –

A gift box for the entire family

Mandate

Desjardins was looking for a gift to give their clients to help them enjoy an afternoon with the family. This gift box includes four aprons, two for adults and two for children, a recipe book created by a young Montreal blogger and a small concrete pot with watercress seeds to be grown and eaten within ten days.

The positive impacts of our gift box

Economic spinoffs – One of our most important commitments and values is to design local products. For this project, we worked with the Montreal designers Dans le Sac. The aprons were designed here in Montreal and were fabricated in a specialized textile studio in the Eastern Townships of Montreal.  In total, 9 local businesses were involved in the creation process of this project.

Environmental impacts – As we mentioned, the manufacturers are located in Montreal and the production is local. The gift boxes therefore only traveled within the province of Quebec  less than 20 km. This means greenhouse gas emissions were minimized — that’s a win for the environment and the company!

Social benefits – By handing out a locally made product, Desjardins is putting the spotlight on local products and showing off the creativity of Canadian designers. The company is therefore positioning itself to promote local talent.

Desjardins – A role model for our Ecoleaders

Desjardins can see the impact it makes by choosing a local supplier: it encourages local creativity, minimizes environmental impacts and supports jobs in the country. This strategy is in line with its mission and overall vision.
